Scene: what it means

Two meanings. A scene is a single, negotiated session of play with a start and an end. “The scene” also means the wider kink community.

In practice

A scene usually has a beginning (often negotiation and a check-in), a middle, and an end followed by aftercare. When people talk about “the scene”, they mean the wider kink community: munches, classes, events and the people who run them.

Consent and safety

Learn before you try: classes, books and experienced, trusted people beat guesswork. Negotiate first, start gently, check in often, agree how to stop, and plan aftercare. Nobody owes anyone any activity, ever. For meeting someone new, see our safety tips.
