Privacy policy

What we collect

• Account: your email address and a password (stored hashed by our authentication provider).
• Profile: display name, optional photo, age, gender, who you are looking for, city and bio.
• Activity: your smashes and passes, matches, and the messages you send in a match.
• Ads: title, text, category, tags, optional city, age preference, photo and contact detail.
• Reports you file, and moderation actions taken on your account.
• Browser storage: your login session and the 18+ confirmation are kept in your browser’s localStorage. We do not use advertising cookies.

Who can see what

• Your profile (name, photo, age, city, bio) is visible to other logged-in members. Profile and ad photos are stored in public storage, so anyone with the image link can open them.
• Whether you smashed or passed someone is private. The other person only learns about it if you both smash and a match is created.
• Messages are visible only to the two people in the match, plus the admin when moderating.
• Live ads (title, text, city, tags, photo) are public on the board. The contact field on an ad is shown only to logged-in members.
• The Sparks admin can see account emails and all content in order to moderate the service.

Where it is stored

Data is stored with our database and authentication provider (Supabase) and the site is hosted on Vercel. Both may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and operations.

Deleting your data

You can delete your own ads at any time and edit or clear your profile. To have your whole profile, matches and messages deleted, send a request with the Report button addressed to the admin, or ask in a DM with The Algorithm. Unmatching someone deletes that conversation for both people.

Age

Sparks is not intended for anyone under 18. Accounts we believe belong to minors are deleted.
