Frequently asked questions

What is Sparks?

Sparks is a free dating and personal ads site for adults 18 and over. You can make a profile, play Smash or Pass, message any member (up to 10 new conversations a day), and browse or post free personal ads on the classifieds board.

Is Sparks really free?

Yes. Creating an account, swiping, matching, messaging and posting personal ads are all free. There is no subscription and no paid tier right now. You never pay to read a message or see a match. If that ever changes, it will be announced on the About page first.

Who runs Sparks?

Sparks is an independent site founded and run by Edward Schaffitz in Springfield, Oregon. It is not part of a larger dating company. In the app, the admin appears as The Algorithm with an ADMIN badge.

When and where did Sparks launch?

Sparks launched in October 2026 in Eugene and Springfield, Oregon. It also has early pages for Albany, Salem and Portland, but there are very few members outside Eugene and Springfield so far.

Do I need to download an app?

No. Sparks runs in any phone or desktop browser at skipthegame.site. You can sign up with email and password, or with Google or Facebook sign-in.

Who can join Sparks?

Adults 18 and over who are looking for consensual connections: dates, casual or ongoing connections, kink-friendly partners, or friends first. Anyone under 18 is not allowed, and accounts believed to belong to minors are deleted.

How does matching work?

In Smash or Pass you see member profiles one at a time. If two people both smash each other, Sparks creates a match. You don’t need a match to say hi, though: you can message any member, up to 10 new conversations a day, and Block anyone you don’t want to hear from. Nobody is told when you pass or block.

What are Sparks personal ads?

The classifieds board lets members post a free personal ad in their own words, with a city, who they are seeking and tags such as friends first or ongoing. Members can post up to five ads a day. Ads that list prices are blocked automatically.

Are there fake profiles or bots on Sparks?

Sparks does not create fake or bot member profiles. Sample content, such as example ads in guides, is clearly labeled as an example. If you see an account that looks fake, report it.

How many members does Sparks have?

Sparks is new and still small. It does not publish invented member counts, and there may not be many people near you yet.

Does Sparks verify identities?

No. Sparks does not verify identities, run background checks or guarantee matches. Video chat before meeting and follow the safety tips.

How is Sparks moderated?

Every profile, private message and ad has a Report option. Reports go to the Sparks admin, a real person, who can remove content and ban accounts that break the community rules.

What is not allowed on Sparks?

Anyone under 18, anything that sexualizes minors, trafficking or exploitation, commercial ads or anything for sale, illegal activity, harassment, impersonation and sharing other people's private information or images.

Is Sparks related to other sites with similar names?

No. Sparks is an independent site at skipthegame.site and is not affiliated with any other dating, personals or classifieds site, including ones with similar names or domains.

What data does Sparks collect?

Your account email, your profile details, your matches and messages, any ads you post and reports you file. Sparks does not use advertising cookies. Data is stored with Supabase and the site is hosted on Vercel. Details are in the privacy policy.

How do I delete my account?

Open Profile and tap Delete my account. This removes your login, profile, photos, likes, matches, messages and ads. Step-by-step instructions, including for Google and Facebook sign-ins, are on the data deletion page.

What is the Founding Spark perk?

The first 100 members get a permanent Founding Spark badge and 500 bonus Sparks coins. Sparks coins are pretend, just-for-fun coins: no real money, and they cannot be bought, sold or cashed out.

Is Sparks kink-friendly?

Yes, for consenting adults. Sparks has a plain-English kink glossary, a glossary quiz and a playful Freak Scale quiz, all non-explicit and consent-first. Vanilla daters are just as welcome.

How do I stay safe meeting someone from Sparks?

Keep early chats on Sparks, video chat first, meet somewhere public, get there on your own and tell a friend your plans. Never send money, gift cards or codes to someone you met online.
