PRICK: what it means

A framework that builds on RACK by stressing that each person is responsible for learning about what they do, speaking up about their own needs and limits, and making informed choices.

Also called: Personal Responsibility, Informed Consensual Kink.

In practice

PRICK puts the focus on each person doing their own homework, speaking up for their own needs, and owning their choices. It is a reminder that safety is shared: no single partner is solely responsible for everyone else’s wellbeing, and everyone is responsible for communicating clearly.

Consent and safety

Consent tools only work when everyone agrees on them ahead of time, sober and without pressure. Anyone can pause or stop at any moment, and a “yes” last week is not a “yes” today. If something feels off, stopping is always the right call. For meeting someone new, see our safety tips.
