YKINMK: what it means

Community shorthand for respecting other people’s consensual interests without judgement, even if they are not for you. Not yucking someone else’s yum.

Also called: Your kink is not my kink (and that’s okay).

In practice

YKINMK is a friendly reminder that people can enjoy different things without anyone needing to approve. It pairs naturally with consent: respect other adults’ choices, decline what is not for you, and do not shame or pressure anyone either way.

Consent and safety

Community spaces run on discretion and consent. Do not out people, photograph them or share who attended. Ask before touching anyone, respect house rules, and remember that being in a kink space is never consent to anything. For meeting someone new, see our safety tips.
