Kink vs fetish: what it means
A kink is any consensual sexual or intimate interest outside what is seen as conventional. A fetish usually means a strong focus on a specific object, material or body part, sometimes to the point that it is important for arousal. People often use the two words loosely and interchangeably.
Also called: kink, fetish.
In practice
In everyday conversation people use the two words loosely, so it is fine to ask what someone means. In profiles, naming a broad interest is usually enough at first; details are better shared privately once there is mutual interest and trust.
Consent and safety
Community spaces run on discretion and consent. Do not out people, photograph them or share who attended. Ask before touching anyone, respect house rules, and remember that being in a kink space is never consent to anything. For meeting someone new, see our safety tips.
