Brat: what it means

A playful submissive who teases, pushes back or “misbehaves” on purpose because both partners enjoy the game of being put back in line. The partner who enjoys that game is often called a brat tamer. Bratting is consensual fun, not real disrespect of limits.

Also called: brat tamer.

In practice

Bratting works when both partners enjoy the teasing game and have agreed how it plays out. It is playful resistance inside agreed limits, not real defiance of boundaries. A safeword still means stop, and a brat’s “no” in negotiation is just as real as anyone else’s.

Consent and safety

Roles describe what partners agreed to, not who matters more. Every role sits inside negotiated limits, a working safeword or signal, and the freedom for anyone to step out of the dynamic at any time. Real-life respect never switches off. For meeting someone new, see our safety tips.
