Nesting partner: what it means

A partner you live with or share a home and daily life with, in a non-monogamous setup.

In practice

A nesting partner shares the practical side of life: a home, bills, chores, perhaps pets or children. Some polyamorous people have one nesting partner; others have none or several. It describes living arrangements, not necessarily who matters most.

Consent and safety

Ethical non-monogamy depends on honesty and ongoing consent from everyone affected, not just the people who proposed it. Agreements can be renegotiated, sexual-health conversations matter, and anyone can change their mind. For meeting someone new, see our safety tips.
